In my latest home schooling research, I found that parents had reasons that "pushed" them and their children out of traditional schooling systems, and reasons that "pulled" them into home schooling.
These push and pull factors help us to understand what parents are thinking, what their children experienced in traditional schooling and the benefits both parents and their children discovered as they experienced home schooling.
